What is Convergence?
The Waikato Role-Playing Guild’s Biggest Event of the Year – Convergence – Returns this September! Get ready for an epic weekend of role-playing, giveaways, and plenty of banter, all wrapped up with a social gathering on Sunday evening!
Convergence is a two-day convention organized by the Waikato Role-Playing Guild, designed to bring together new and seasoned players for a weekend of games, seminars, and socializing. Whether you’re a veteran adventurer or just starting your TTRPG journey, there’s something for everyone! Expect a variety of games running in 3-4 hour time slots, each one a “one-shot” (a self-contained adventure). We’ll provide everything you need—pre-generated characters, a welcoming atmosphere, and a chance to meet like-minded gamers.
In addition to games, there will be seminars, vendor stalls, and plenty of opportunities to make new friends. It’s the ultimate place to experience the best of the TTRPG community!
What is a TTRPG?
Tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) are a form of collaborative storytelling, Typically played with pen, paper, and dice, these games let you take on any role imaginable. While Dungeons & Dragons might be the most famous, there are thousands of systems ranging from the quirky (like raccoon drag-racing) to the epic (think eldritch horrors or fantasy realms). TTRPGs rely on creativity and collaboration to bring stories to life.
